Your Breakthrough Is Hidden in Your Obedience
“And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”
— 1 Samuel 15:22 (KJV)
I’ll be honest — saying “yes” to God hasn’t always come easy for me. I pray, cry, read the Word, and worship, but there’s resistance. I create a plan and tell myself, “Lakeya, your breakthrough is hidden in your obedience,” but I still do nothing.
There have been times when I’ve heard His voice clearly, but fear made me freeze. I’d start questioning everything — “What if I fail? What if I’m not ready? What if I make a fool of myself?” But deep down, I knew it wasn’t about me being ready — it was about being willing.
I’ve told God “later” when He said “now.” I’ve said I’ll do it tomorrow, then I’m reminded that tomorrow isn’t promised. I’ve tried to reason with Him when He was calling me to move. But the truth is, delayed obedience is still disobedience.
And every time I tried to stay in the comfort zone, I became restless — because peace never lives where purpose is ignored.
Real Talk
For a very long time, I have felt and heard God calling me to be more and do more. I sit miserably at my job, knowing I have gifts and talents that must be used, but I limit myself. God has used family, friends, and even strangers to encourage me, yet I still allow Satan to hold me back.
Obedience often feels like walking into a dark forest without a flashlight — you can’t see the full path, but you know Who’s leading. And yet, that’s where most of us hesitate. We want the details before we move, but God is saying, “Just trust Me.”
Think about Abraham — God told him to leave everything familiar and go to a place he didn’t even know (Genesis 12:1). He didn’t get a roadmap, just a promise. And that’s what faith looks like — walking into “I don’t know” because you trust the One who does.
When God calls you, it’s not always convenient. Sometimes it’s uncomfortable. Sometimes you’ll cry, you’ll wrestle, you’ll question. But there’s something supernatural that happens when you finally surrender and say “yes, Lord.” Heaven starts to shift. Doors begin to open. Chains break. Purpose awakens.
Your Yes Changes Everything
When we obey God, we’re not just saying yes to an instruction — we’re saying yes to our breakthrough, our healing, our next level.
Obedience is the bridge between where you are and where God wants to take you.
Every “yes” builds something eternal. Every act of surrender plants a seed that will bear fruit in due season. You may not see it right away, but obedience always produces — even in silence.
I’ve learned that the more I obey, the lighter I feel. The fear doesn’t disappear, but my faith starts to roar louder than my doubts. Because when you’ve walked with God long enough, you realize He has never failed a surrendered heart.
Encouragement for You
If you’ve been like me, running from your calling, doubting your ability, or waiting until you “feel ready” — this is your confirmation: Go anyway. Today, I choose to walk in obedience, and you should too!
God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called.
There’s something on the other side of your obedience (and mine) that will bless not just you, but everyone connected to you. Souls are waiting on your yes. Healing is waiting on your yes. Provision is waiting on your yes.
I encourage you to step out on faith with me and walk in God’s perfect plan.
You don’t have to understand the how — just trust the Who.
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Forgive me for my disobedience and all the times I allowed Satan’s lies to be stronger than my faith and louder than your voice. I know that you have a perfect plan for my life. You know my beginning to my end. Teach me to trust You even when I can’t trace You. Give me the courage to walk by faith and not by sight. Give me the boldness to stand firm in who you’ve called me to be. I trust that as long as I stay rooted in you, there is more out there for me and work for me to do for your kingdom. Let my “yes” unlock everything You’ve prepared for me — for Your glory alone. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Wherever you are, whoever you are, as a child of God, let’s say yes and walk boldly in God’s purpose.
